Technoviking has been working really hard at making the change (with the aid of the forums community), so a big thank you is in order. The style is still being developed, but it is coming along nicely and is now the default for the forum I would encourage people to install the Ubuntu Font (if your system does not already have it) as the site does looks better when it is in use. If you find any issues with the new theme then please file a bug!
We would like to announce that google analytics have been removed from the Ubuntu Forums. This is in response to the new EU Cookie directive. This change applies to all forum members, in all regions.
Tutorials -> Ubuntu Wiki: Update
Last month we agreed to start moving tutorials to the wiki. We have setup a team dedicated to this task, but we could always do with more help. A script has been written which takes a thread from the forum and converts it to moinmoin markdown for use on the wiki, substantially simplifying the initial process. The code and instructions can be found here. We would encourage the wider community to participate. The team can be found in this IRC channel. We would also like to encourage the community to identify forums tutorials that they would like to see on the wiki. The best way to bring this to the teams attention is to add it to the table on this wiki page.
New Ubuntu Members
This month has seen a few forum contributors apply for Ubuntu Membership. The successful applicants were:
Congratulations to the new Ubuntu Forums Members. If you are an active forum user then you too are welcome to apply for membership. Information on how to do so can be found here. Good luck!
Ubuntu Accomplishments System
We are pleased to inform the community that s.fox has been getting involved with Jono Bacons accomplishment system. 3 forums based accomplishments are in the system at the moment, but we are actively seeking to add more with greater database interaction. Watch this space! If you would like to get involved with the project, or simply learn more please have a read of this wiki page.
Ubuntu Forums IRC Channel
We are still making a push for greater community interaction, and are actively promoting our IRC channel. Many of the forum community link to it in their signatures and we would encourage others to do so too. The IRC channel is a place for friendly lighthearted chat with forum members and all are welcome. We’d be happy to see new members visit.
Next Forum Council Meeting
The next Forum Council meeting will be held in #ubuntu-meeting on June 20 2012 23:00 UTC. Here is the agenda for the meeting. If you would like to add anything to the agenda then feel free, all we ask is that if you add to the agenda please attend the meeting. All are welcome to attend them and participate in discussion.
