Typical. Both the French and German governments issue warnings about the security flaw(s) in Internet Explorer and they both advise to switch to another browser. Instead the UK government is advising people to visit this site. Wonderful. It begs the question why? Will people panic? I doubt it.
Microsoft haven’t been keeping quiet either, which is nice to see. They are admitting the recent email account hacking of human rights activists in China was through weaknesses in Internet Explorer. Microsoft are advising that users upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, which is believed to be the least susceptible to attack.
Cliff Evans, head of Security and Privacy at Microsoft UK has issued the following statement
“The quantity of exploits which have occurred been minimal and very targeted. The general public do not need to worry and we have not yet had a case in the UK”
I can only imagine Microsoft will release security updates in the coming days in an effort to combat the latest security exploit.
Think I’ll stick to Firefox thank you very much.
