Hooray
I have managed to get Lucid Lynx to boot in Virtual Box in a Live CD environment. To be honest it looks very similar to Karmic (shock). So far its been okay, though I would say that I am yet to be “wowed”. A quick glance at the pre-installed applications shows some differences. Namely the lack of several games. The games seem to have been replaced with something new called gbrainy. Its actually quite a good brain trainer game
At some point this week I shall probably install it properly and see what its like. I was involved with testing Karmic UNR last year and I am looking forward to finding bugs with this release. Expect an update on this at some point during the coming week on how the installation goes.
I downloaded the alpha from here if you would like to try it out for yourself
I have been listening to classical music on and off today. This is one of my favourites.
Its Saturday. Today has been good so far. I have cycled to the gym (and back) for a 2 hour game of badminton. I only lost a couple of games so I am really happy with the way it went. I was going to go back to the gym later for a swim, but I am feeling a little peaky for some reason. I don’t think going for a swim would do me any good today.
So instead I am now having a day at home. Currently I am copying a few live concert DVDs onto my laptop. I also plan to play with the media a little and extract the audio. Once I have done that I will have to put on CD
Gosh, I have such “big ideas” . Laugh out loud.
I have also got to fix my bicycle pump this afternoon. Silly rubber tube seems to have perished in the cold. New tube needed methinks
I shall dwell on this job over a cuppa tea. I might get motivated and do it in the next couple of hours…
Oh the phone you know it never stops
It’s the last thing I hear at night
And the first thing in the morning
And as I let it start to burn my head
You slowly creep into bed
And I’m done talking
You say you know how I’m feeling?
I just need to try to settle down
Oh a million faces pass my way
Oh they’re all the same
Nothing seems to change anytime I look around
Oh who knows just what the future holds
All I want to know is if it’s with you
Tired as hell and falling up the stairs
Filled with a thousand cares as you walk out from the bedroom
Though it feels like all the fire has gone
You just turn me on
We’re distracted by the hard times
The troubles that we make
Let us throw them in the ocean
Let it wash our cares away
Its Wednesday already. This week seems to be moving along quite nicely. Soon be the weekend
Yesterday I was in Gloucester for a meeting. The meeting was okay, if a little long. It was “nice” this morning to see over 200 emails in my inbox. Seems I can’t have a day out the office without people wanting something. Finally read through them, and appropriate actions taken.
Last night I finished my project for the beginners team. Paultag suggested that some kind of cookie system be introduced. While I do not agree, I feel that I should at least put something forward. Some testing is needed with a few close friends to confirm that my final deliverable works across the board.
Tonight I am going to the cinema. I am going to see a film called It’s Complicated. I am not sure what it is about, but I am still looking forward to getting out. I can also confirm that the gym has finished the refurbishment. To celebrate this I have booked a badminton court for 2 hours on Saturday morning
Guess I shall have to be halfway good and not get completely drunk on Friday night. Haha
Not posted a video for a few days. hope you enjoy this one
I got inspired by this thread on Ubuntu Forums. After playing with The GIMP for a bit I ended up with something that looks halfway okay. Hope you like it. Feel free to use it for whatever purpose see fit.
The Ubuntu User Days Team would like to announce the first Ubuntu User Day, on January 23, 2010. This will be a very informative one day session geared towards beginner and intermediate Ubuntu users, as well as people who are interested in using Ubuntu. We have 14 classes covering topics ranging from installing Ubuntu, finding help, equivalent programs, using IRC, getting involved in the Ubuntu Community and more. We have enlisted the help of many talented people to lead these classes throughout the day. These classes will be taught in #ubuntu-classroom with questions being asked in #ubuntu-classroom-chat on irc.freenode.net. Please visit here for a complete class list and schedule of classes.
The classes will begin at 12:00 UTC and end at 3:00AM (Sun) UTC

Friday, hurrah.
The week has been quite busy for me. I haven’t been especially sociable this week so far. Guess I shall have to try and get out at the weekend. No idea who is going to be available to go out nor even where.
Work has been not too bad this week, mainly doing an Ajax search script for an eBook we have been developing for a new client. I have also been doing some “arcane magick” with math for an image crop. This used imagemagick which is quite a handy tool to have installed on one of the servers.
I am eating out tonight at a restaurant with some friends, which will be a bit different to the normal. Does that count as socialising? Hmm. Tomorrow I am going to throw myself in the pool for an hour or two. See how I get on. Hopefully I will avoid the usual muscle cramps that start to kick in after thirty minutes.
Apart from that no plans as of yet for the weekend. Hopefully something will come up
An old favourite of mine. Hope you enjoy.

Road Trip
