Inglourious Bastards Review

I should really know better than to think that any film with a swear word in the title might be any good…

Well,  to cut to the chase its appallingly bad.   The story focused around a group of what I would call Nazi hating psychopaths.   A very violent film to say the least,  most notably Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) talking to the rest of  ‘the bastards’,  informing them of the plan to kill, torture, and scalp  Nazis.  The viewer was regularly given snippets of these horrific actions.  Aldo went so far as to engrave Swastikas in the foreheads of Nazi’s he let live.  The film also had a character called the Bear Jew,  who killed captured Nazis with a baseball bat.  Very bloody,  very violent and very disturbing that it came from the mind of one of Hollywood’s acclaimed directors.

Not that I am trying to make this film sound like its packed full of action,  its not.   I found it very boring and was struggling to pay attention to what is going on.  A lot of what I would call pointless talking scenes that add nothing of merit to the film.  You may not be surprised to know that the Germans in the film are kind enough to speak English for us.  Very commendable…

The soundtrack for the film was supposed to be very good,  I found it a little disappointing.  Especially given that most of the film was accompanied by Spanish mariachi guitar playing.  It seemed out of place,  if that is indeed the right phrase.

Not a good film at all,  and certainly not one I would recommend.  Something to avoid if you see it in a bargain bin in the not so distant future.

    I concur.

After that Bear Jew scene, there was little action from the basterds as I can recall. That started the long “Nazi solider likes girl” thing and it dragged on forever.

And when we eventually got back to the basterds in brief action, the plot isn’t even interesting anymore.
